
Dr. Shailendra Sharma is a Nephrologist and Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine. He co-founded GHAR with Dr. Pooja Sherchan in 2024, to improve the health of Migrant Workers in Nepal. After completing medical school in 2000, he began his career with the United Mission to Nepal, focusing on altitude sickness. He completed his residency in Chicago and a Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Colorado, where he later served as a Faculty member before moving to George Washington University. Currently based in East Lansing, Michigan, Shailendra works at University of Michigan Health at Sparrow. His professional interests include protecting the health of Migrant Workers and improving kidney health in Nepal. He is actively involved in clinical studies and community initiatives focused on kidney health education and screening. Shailendra is married to Dr. Sumugdha Rayamajhi, a Clinician Educator, and they have two children.

Dr. Pooja Sherchan co-founded GHAR in 2024 with Dr. Shailendra Sharma, to improve the health of Migrant Workers in Nepal. She completed her medical education at Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi, India before pursuing residency at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. She then completed fellowships in Endocrinology at Bay State Medical Center and Diabetes at UCSF. For over a decade, she practiced as a Clinical Endocrinologist with Sutter Medical Group in Santa Rosa, California. In 2023, she transitioned to self-employment. Pooja also serves as Board Secretary of the America Nepal Medical Association. She resides in Mill Valley, California with her son, Adi Chhetri and enjoys nature hikes, spending time with loved ones, and pursuing creative activities.

Nisha Thapa serves as Board Chair of GHAR and is a trained Nurse Practitioner. She is Co-founder and Executive Director of Sahayeta.org, a volunteer driven non-profit advocating for the Himalayan Community in San Francisco Bay Area and the Himalayan Region. She is also an adjunct Faculty Member at Samuel Merritt University. Nisha is passionate about integrating mind-body-spirit medicine in her clinical practice.

Jay Dahal is Board Treasurer of GHAR. He is a finance professional with expertise in accounting, entrepreneurship, and strategic consulting. He holds a Bachelor’s in Accounting from Brigham Young University. Jay has been involved with Hustle Fund and RaliCap Venture Funds, supporting startups globally, especially in Nepal. He is also an Advisor to startups in San Francisco's tech community and invests in Nepal’s growing tech sector. He co- founded Machnet Technologies Inc., a cross-border banking and payments startup, and led digital transformations for companies like ThamelRemit and Muncha Money Transfer. Jay also leads Focus Your Finance, a financial firm that offers CFO services to healthcare businesses. Jay resides in Pleasanton, California with his wife and son

Archana Sharma is a Board Member of GHAR. She brings over 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors. A licensed CPA, Archana has held leadership roles across a range of organisations—from mission-driven non-profits to fast-paced corporate environments—offering strategic financial guidance, operational oversight, and regulatory compliance expertise.

Mahendra Pandey is Advisor to GHAR’s Board. He is the Director of Humanity United’s Forced Labor & Human Trafficking portfolio, leading grassroots initiatives and well-being efforts that integrate cultural and spiritual perspectives. He founded the Pravasi Nepali Coordination Committee and has over 15 years of experience in worker organising, human rights, and anti-trafficking. He is the founder of Shramik Sanjal and the Global Migrant Workers Network. Mahendra serves on the Advisory Council of Polaris, a leading organisation working on anti-trafficking and is Vice-Chair of Freedom Fund. He holds a Master’s Degree in Digital Media and Storytelling from American University.

Preeti Adhikary is the Founder of The Great Nepali Diaspora, a non- profit community of exceptional global Nepali talent that aims to nurture connection, collaboration, and camaraderie. She is also the General Partner of Momo VC, a US-based early stage venture capital fund created to support under-represented Founders.
Preeti started The Empowered Women, an initiative dedicated to connecting Nepali Women worldwide, through mentorship, capacity building and knowledge sharing. She holds a Master of Advanced Management from Yale School of Management and an MBA from the University of British Columbia. She was Vice-President, Marketing & Operations of Fuse-machines Inc. NYC, one of the first companies with a Nepali Founder to go public on NASDAQ.
